Dr. Sudhir Naik (President)

Dr. Sudhir Naik comes from an old Hyderabadi family. He was educated at Osmania Medical College and All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi. He was the first D.M. in Cardiology and the first D.M. in any subject in the state of A.P.

\r\n

He has established Modern Department of Cardiology in Osmania Hospital and Gandhi Hospital and setup a Cardiology Unit at Andhra Mahila Sabha. He brought modern Cardiology to the state and made interventional, ethical and responsible cardiac care available to all patients attending to Osmania Hospital.

\r\n

Dr. Naik has been actively involved in all the three areas of Cardiology - Clinical Work, Teaching and Research. His clinical experience has been quite vast. He has setup his subspeciality of Cardiology in the state by starting D.M. Cardiology courses both at Osmania Medical College and Gandhi Medical College.

\r\n

He has been involved actively in research funded by Indian Council of Medical Research and World Health Organization, this work includes both centre base and filed based studies in community epidemiology and preventive cardiology. Dr. Naik was appointed state nodal officer for the National programme on - Prevention of Cardio-vascular Disease- conducted by the W.H.O and Government of India. He was the investigator for the Indo-U.S. collaborative multi-centric studies - Development of Vaccine for Rheumatic Heart Disease-. He was a member of Indo-U.S.S.R collaborative team on Cardio-vascular Diseases.

Dr. Naik is a fellow of International College of Angiology, life member of Cardiological Society of India, life member of Association of Physicians of India, life member of Indian Medical Association, member of New York Academic of Science and several such related organizations.

\r\n\r\n

He received Gold Medal for best scientific paper in 1977 - Association of Physicians of India. He received Rustum Jaal Vakil Oration Award, Bombay in 1979. He was the man of the year of American Biographical Institute 2001.

\r\n

Dr. Naik is a examiner for Cardiology of several Medical Colleges and Universities. He is examiner for PhD. at AIIMS, New Delhi. He has conducted several workshops including two WHO workshops on preventive Cardiology. He is on the editorial board of several Journals. He is also on the board of directors of several hospitals in Hyderabad and other states.

Dr. Naik is the Hon. President of Vivek Vardhini Education Society for the past 20 years. This Society now runs 19 institutions from Primary to Post graduation level and caters to deserving sections of the Society.

Dr. Naik has donated 3 acers of his family land to the Montessori trust and he is also a founder trustee and vice-president of Montessori Training and Research Trust of India. He is well versed in Urdu and participated in several community Education programmes. He has received Hindu-Muslim unity league award in 1988 and United Hindu - Muslim font award \r\n-HRIDAY SAMRAT- 1989. In addition he has been an active member of Rotary International since 1975. He is a member of Royal Overseas League, London. \r\n
